Professional Indemnity Insurance

One of the major expenses for Immigration Advisers is the cost of Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII).   In view of this the Committee has discussed this matter with the OISC.  The OISC had previously discussed the provision of PII to Regulated Immigration Advisers as the OISC were concerned about the high costs being charged by some agents, brokers and companies.  James Walters (Committee Member) has checked with a number of Insurance Companies throughout the UK.  (James is continuing to contact suitable Insurance companies).  James has provided the following information and contact details for Insurance Companies that can provide Professional Indemnity Insurance at economical rates.

Some Insurance Companies do package deals for Professional Indemnity Insurance, Employers Liability Insurance and Public Liability Insurance, Products Liability Insurance, Office Contents and Computer Insurance.  These packages (that are optional) generally appear to be very good value.  It seems having completed the proposal form, individual quotes will be provided for each of these within the package and Insurance may be taken out on all types of Insurance if needed or preferred, or just those needed.  The total Premium to be paid is then dependant upon the Insurance/s chosen.

Generally it appears Insurance Premiums may be paid either as a one off annual payment by Direct Debit or Cheque, or the option is provided to pay the Premium over 10 or 12 months with monthly Direct Debits.  There are usually charges associated with paying over 10 or 12 months since these are arranged through a credit company and charges for interest made and added to the annual costs.

Presently we can recommend one company that provides very reasonable premium rates and details of this are presented below.  This company does not charge additional interest or charges by spreading the payments over the 12 months. This of course is a considerable help to many organisations.  In order to provide members with choices of cover however we are continuing discussions with other companies and as soon as any further details become available we will post the details on this site.
