A2 and A8 Accession Regulations

UK Border Agency Announcement

We would like to inform you that The Accession (Immigration and Worker Authorisation) Regulations 2006 and The Accession (Immigration and Worker Registration) Regulations 2004 will change from 2 October 2009.

The UK Regulations will be amended to give access to the labour market to certain family members of A2 (Romanian and Bulgarian) and A8 (those countries that acceded to the EU on 1 May 2004 other than Malta and Cyprus) nationals.

These amendments will take the form of the statutory instrument; The Accession (Worker Authorisation and Worker Registration) (Amendment) Regulations 2009.

The effect of the amendments made by the statutory instrument is that A8 and A2 family members of A8 and A2 workers will cease to be subject to a requirement to register their employment under the Workers Registration Scheme, or seek worker authorisation, if they undertake work in the UK.

For further information on these changes, please visit the UK Border Agency website from 2 October.
